Every year the Alberta chapter of the PPOC puts on an Image Competition for all its members.
There are 22 categories of images to submit. Those images from PPOC members from all over Alberta are judged by a panel of 5 judges.
There are four levels you can be judged at, Not-accepted, Accepted, Merit and Excellence. Think of the top three as bronze, silver and gold.
Judging takes place online where the “Makers’ of the images can watch as judges critique each image. It is a very tough panel and just getting an Accepted is tough to do. Excellence happens very rarely.
I submitted 4 images in four different classes.
They were;
Sitar Dance (Portrait Category, Accepted)
IT’s the Real Thing (Product Illustration Category, Accepted)
Eggs-Ploring Colour (Fine Art Category, Merit)
Change (Conceptual Illustration Category, Excellence)
All images accepted or higher are entered into the Alberta Image Salon, this becomes an art show that travels throughout Alberta.
On top of the judging for these levels the same panel also judged the images for “Best in Class” for each category. They also chose for the Pat Eisenbarth Award which is given to the Best in Show.
Last weekend the PPOC had their annual photography convention called “Light Matters”. At the end of the three day convention they had an award show where they revealed the final winners.
The Image Change was unanimously voted Best in Show for the entire competition.
Here is the final image, the certificate and the press release for the award.
Thank you to the Models, Makeup Artists, Designers, Organizers, Sponsors and of course my Hubby Steve for all their effort and talent in making these images.
These images are available to purchase as prints.
