trick horse

Urban Country Boyz

Hanging out with Jose Jalapeno and Amanda Preston is like the city mouse going to meet the country mouse.

I grew up in Windermere BC. Whenever I head out to visit Amanda and Jose I get lost in the memories of my childhood. I get to leave my busy life behind and just relax.

Jose is the first horse that I’ve met that sits, rears up, bows and many more amazing tricks. I’m in awe watching Amanda work with Jose. I hope to take some in action photos for her next summer.

I took these photos with a mind to put out another calendar. Tough times made it a little difficult this year. I will work on this for next summer when we all will have more time to focus on it.

I took these photos with my Canon 5D MK IV and brought them into photoshop. I changed out the skies, did a color matching removed fences and other objects. I use a fill light when photographing outdoors even during the day. My lights that I use are the Godox AD200, I have three of them with a variety of modifiers.

Alex Cojo is a friend of Amanda’s. She asked if he’d like to pose for a few photos. It was a pleasure meeting and working with him. We got several really good images of him, especially this one of Jose rearing. I really love Alex’s pose. He looks very powerful and confident and matches the same look and feel I get with Jose in this image.

I really enjoyed working with Alex and look forward to working with him again.
