Tiva and Her 8 Adorable Babies

Alberta Lost Pet Locator and Rescue Society Rescues for Adoption contacted me just over a week ago to see if I could take some photos of their puppies. I was honored and couldn’t wait to get started.

When momma (Tiva her name means dance) showed up with her babies the studio was alive. Each one had a unique personality. I fell in love right away with this little girl. She loves to pose with attitude expression on her face. Refereed to her as a photographers dog. The other that stole my heart was the big boy. He was so content and passive. The cuddles were wonderful.

Please go to their page give it a like and if you or anyone you know is looking at adopting a fur baby send them a massage. We adopted our Tazzy for Marie.

“Mom was found at a reserve very malnourished with 10 babies, but 2 had died already. She was skin and bones and not producing milk. Two others look very close to dying as well.

ASNTF contacted me and asked if I had room. I took her and posted for a foster. I met a transfer driver that night and brought her to my clean room where my boyfriend”s daughter and I started cleaning and feeding.

I made Billy-Jo’s best gruel for sick pups and momma inhaled it. Babies struggled at first on bottles but with patience they learned. They were just over two weeks old.

Mom was given a vaccine and they were all treated for bugs and worms just in case. My daughter stayed by their side for the next 24 hours feeding every 2 hours. They started doing great.

Then we went to Tina’s home to get them set up and ready for the new adventure. Tina gave them fresh milk from her Jersey cow to help mom and make sure she didn’t get milk fever. She also gave her more gruel and kibble.

Mom soon learned how loving Tina was and that she didn’t have to fight for food. Day by day they all got stronger.

Moms milk production started within 24 hours of us feeding her and everyone started growing. Now they are doing great, happy and loving life.

Mom has gained 10 lbs even though she’s nursing 8 babies!!! It’s so rewarding to see them grow and do so well.”

A big thank you to Heroes Unleashed for coming out and supporting this great cause. We had 6 amazing cosplayers show up.

The weather started off cool and breezy, and ended warm and sunny. I got a little too much sun kissed, but had a fabulous time.

"What's Done, Is Done" (Lady Macbeth)

I’m really pleased with the way this shoot came together. Loved the editing style I developed for this set.

It was hard to choose the ones to edit. There were so many good ones.

Kasda was a pleasure to work with. She’s very talented at emoting the character you ask her to portray. I hope to work with her again soon on another project. It’s coincidental cause Kasda is Scottish and Macbeth is her all time favourite in school.

The image of her on the red throne represents her obsession with blood and the death of the Scottish King. The chair itself was originally white and I changed it to red while editing.

We had a stellar team. I look forward to working with these amazing talented ladies again.

This gorgeous dress was designed by Michelle Bossert.

Outstanding Hair and makeup by Deonna Fetzko of Aurora Hair and Makeup Artistry

The lovely Jewelry by Madame Nadine

The stunning nails by Candice Wdowiak.

Headpiece designed by Heather Fryer VOH Props and Rentals

This was an opportunity for me to create a one of kind head piece to finish off this creation.

Kasda Allen was transcendent as our version of Lady Macbeth.

Photography and editing by Heather Fryer (Visions of Heaphen)

The Portrait of Lady Macbeth holding her head in her hands, will be featured at the Renaissance Edmonton Airport Hotel Gallery for October and November as a part of the Portrait Exhibit.

The image of her holding the skull before her, with the knife behind her back.represents The Lady talking to her husband Macbeth, telling him to build up his courage and kill Duncan, the King of Scotland

The rose in image four, represents blood and love. Here you see Lady Macbeth seeing blood on her hands where there is none. “Out damn spot” she would say, constantly wringing her hands trying to remove Duncan’s blood.

Western Canada Corvette Caravan Mirror Flags

We were asked to create the Wing Clings for the Corvette groups mirrors.

You can check them out at Ron Hodgson from 7:00-8:15 am or wait for them on the Anthony Henday. They will be rolling out of Ron Hodgson at 8:30 am.

They are the Western Corvette Caravan heading to Bowling Green, KY Wednesday August 21, 2019. Bowling Green August 29th 8 days later. 6500+ Km road-trip.

Here’s a better look at the stats. Western Canada Corvette Caravan is part of the LARGEST group arriving with 750+ corvettes in their line. Rumor has them at roughly 22 km long of corvettes!

NEXT one will take place in 2024! Maybe I’ll have a Corvette by then.

Last night I had the pleasure of shooting two gorgeous Corvettes. Baby Ray the yellow Corvette, owners Ken Turner and Heather Ng. and the red Corvette, owners Marno Donna Sekora

As we were getting set up to start taking the photos I felt a few drops of rain. This has definitely been a difficult year/Summer for outdoors photos. We have been getting lots of rain. These two Corvette owners braved the weather conditions and we managed to get some amazing photos.

Something about Yellow and Red together. I love the colors.

Let me know what you think. If your interested in photos please send us a message or call 780 239 3255

Training Day

We were thrilled to be asked to take photos of horses going through their paces learning tricks from the Master, Amanda Preston.

We went to Sawatazky Equine Services and watched as several horse owners learned how to teach their horses to perform a variety of tricks. The ultimate trick was to have the horse bow down.

There will be folders on our ShootProof Gallery over the next few weeks and images will be added as I complete the editing.

“I have the pleasure of working with so many horses but sometimes one just connects and brings me a special lesson. This little gelding is one I’ll hold in my heart for a long time, and it’s not because he was easy, it’s because he read so obviously. His owner was hoping to get him to accomplish some basic trick, to keep him engaging and connect with him more. Beautiful.
Working with him day 1 told me he wanted deeply to do what was asked but there was so much insecurity and no confidence in him. Every time I’d approach him, I needed to remind myself to be very grounded and calm. With slow progress and ample quiet praise for his small attempts, he would offer a bit more, and a bit more. At the end of day two, he very quietly trusted me into a beautiful bow. I nearly cried. He came so far in such a short time because he tried and dared to trust me. And I understood my responsibility to his trust.
Thank you to my friend Heather Visions of Heaphen for joining us and capturing some very special moments. My whole heart”

Darth’s Day off (May 4th)

Darth’s Day off.

We know this is a little late but May the 3rd of this year we took a trip around town with a couple of bad guys just to see what they do on their down time. We hooked up with Darth Vader and one of his favourite storm troopers to see what a day off looks like.

We started off with a trip to the Garneau Theater to see the 40th anniversary of Alien. Darth seemed ready to do battle with his Light Saber while our Storm Trooper had his trusty blaster. No slime ball’s gonna creep up on them!!

Then we took a trip downtown to the Commerce Place, Imperial Bank to get some money as our storm trooper was broke and Darth doesn’t carry a wallet. Darth Loved taking the Escalator!!

Then we waited for a Bus…  ho hum….

After a while we ended up at Tim Horton's so Darth could buy some DARK ROAST!! Trooper wants a doughnut!!

Aren’t you a little short to be a storm trooper???

Later on at home, the boys play some classic Nintendo followed by a much-deserved cup of coco.

I don’t think Darth looks very impressed that his minion is taking advantage of his favourite chair.

Finally Darth gets to relax and read his Imperial Times Newspaper.

Traveling Dress

I was part of an exciting project with many other Photographers from all over the place. We all took turns in shooting a skirt. I decided I wanted to turn it into a Celtic Shoot. I came up with a story to go with the shoot. Steve wrote the story for me.

As soon as I saw what the colour of the skirt was I knew I had to find a red head to play the part. I instantly thought of Bethany. She is a stunning girl and I knew she would fit the part.

The last time I worked with our MUAH Deonna I had mentioned that I was going to be doing a shoot with a traveling skirt. As soon as I got the skirt for my time I contacted Deonna right away to see if she would like to be apart of the shoot. We decided to create two different looks and I let Deonna create her magic. She stayed through the entire shoot making sure that the hair and make up looked prefect.

We are lucky enough to know some great people, Amanda Preston was quick to loan us the bow and arrows and Mairead Micheniewski loaned us a bunch of authentic Celtic pieces including a shillelagh, dance shoes, a tartan and a bodhran. Thanks you everyone for your help, those touches really made a difference in the final shots.

Here is our version of who this Irish lass is and her story.

Brigid’s Tale

Life was everything Brigid had expected it to be, her perfect man, a family and a home. Humble though it was she had never wanted anything more. Music and laughter, love and peace; life had been… blissful.

She could never have foreseen the tragedy that would follow, a child torn from life too young by the pox. Sleepless nights spent crying for help that would never come.

Not long after, came the soldiers in the middle of the night, breaking down the door, killing all the animals and taking her husband off in chains to the Gods only knew where.

For days after Brigid wandered the fields, straying to the graveyard to morn her lost child and missing husband. Broken and reeling, something inside her snapped one night and grief turned to anger, despair turned to resolve.

This lass would not just lie down and take it. She steeled herself to the task; beating the bodhran late into the night, beseeching Morrigan, Goddess of War, to hear her plea. Even the King ought not to stand between an Irish lass and her true love.

Brigid was not raised a scullery maid, she had been raised a warrior and would be so again. Blade and arrow would be her only companions. She would not rest until her task was complete.

As the sun rose over the heather the grim young warrior painted her face and prepared to find and rescue her husband from the garrison beyond the wood where she knew they would take him. They would live to regret what they had done, or maybe they would not live at all.

A steely grin crossed her face as she slipped into the night.

Photography Group (Aviation Museum)

What an incredible evening it was shooting in the Edmonton Aviation Museum last night. We shot in front of four planes and had five different outfits changes.

Around 3:30 pm Deonna Fetzko from Aurora Hair and Makeup Artistry  came over to work her magic. Shortly after she arrived our gorgeous model Mel Issa showed up. Within two and half hours Mel was back in the 50’s. If we had a time machine and went back to the 1950’s Mel would fit right in.

When my mom passed away I got her collection of vintage clothing. Most consisting of my Gramma’s and Great Aunts clothing. some dating back to the 1930’s.

We went through everything I had. Mel tried on a few different ones and between the three of us we picked out 5 outfits for her to wear.

Outfits chosen

  • Caramel brown with white pock a dots. A brown hat with feathers on the front. White gloves with beads sewn on the top. Pearl necklace bracelet and earrings. Black shoes. She carried a hatbox case

  • Chestnut dark brown jacket and skirt suit with light brown pinstripes on the jacket. Brown hat with feathers on the front. Beaded white gloves Pearl necklace, bracelet and earrings. Black shoes. She carried a light brown suitcase.

  • Grey sky blue dress. Pearl necklace, bracelet and earrings. Black shoes.

  • Royal blue flowing evening gown. Pearl necklace, bracelet and earrings. Black shoes.

  • White silk pleated Munro dress with rhinestones around the waist. White fox fir wrap. Beaded white gloves. Black shoes. Pearl necklace, bracelet, earrings. Two hat suitcases and a light brown suitcase.

(Bold indicate they are vintage)

Planes we shot in front of were:

Red and White 1931 Waco UIC (White Dress)

Silver 1837 Barkley Grow (Royal Blue Gown)

Yellow 1941 De Havilland Tiger Moth bi plane (Chestnut Suit and Caramel Pock a dot Dress)

InFocus Photo Exhibit and Award 2019

A few months ago I entered six of my photos into InFocus. One was chosen, My “Violin”. Thank you to my beautiful model Dominique Simone Banner. The InFocus Photo Exhibition is an annual Canada wide exhibition, which focuses on showcasing the works of Canadian photographers. The year’s exhibit featured 27 photographers from all over Canada. This theme was “Connection”. Mine was connecting with music.

The gallery will be on display for everyone to enjoy February 3 – March 30, 2019 at The Renaissance Edmonton Airport Hotel

Alexis Marie Chute and Aaron Chute duo couple that puts on this exhibition every year. It was such a pleasure to have met them.

I’m looking forward to being apart of this event every year. It sure has opened my eyes to the direction I want to go with my photography. I diffidently learned a lot over the weekend.

Thank you to everyone’s support and votes. Mine didn’t win the peoples choice, maybe next year. Thank you to those that came to the event, it was awesome seeing you.

I got a chance to meet Rita from PhotoED Magazine. What an incredible lady.

On Sunday I too my portfolio to be reviewed and my work looked at by four Canadian Reviewers. They gave me some feedback on how to make my work better and how to promote myself. Plus anything else to help me take my photography to the NEXT LEVEL. Thank you to the four reviewers that looked over my work and gave me some inspiration.

NICOLE ASHLEY, JACEK MALEC, JOHN FREEMAN, KIM LARSON

It was an incredible weekend. I’m still on a high with so many ideas I want to do and change. This sure gave me confidence to try new adventures, to up my level. I met so many talented people. I want to thank everyone that supported and voted for me.

I’ve been shooting for over 12 years. I started off just taking photos of kids and families. I took a few courses before I put myself out there in the public. My company’s name was created by my amazing husband. Its a combination of my name and his name, Heaphen that sounds like (heaven).

2016 I ventured into Photoshop and started a different direction of my photography. I still take courses to keep up to the new things out there in the photography industry.

I’ve created a unique look to my shooting and editing. I always say create you own technique, your own signature to you photography.

I do wish I had started this career when I was in my 20’s or even my 30’s. I was busy raising three kids.

Expo 2018

September 2018 we went to Expo to take photos of some Cosplayers.

Everywhere you looked there were some amazing outfits. We tried to get as many as we could. It was really busy that day. We hope to get to the next one.

We finally found ourselves a bare section of wall. While we were waiting for our few cosplay friends to show up a few different cosplayers would stop and we would snap a few photos of them.

Our friends showed up and we took photos of Wolverine, She hulk, Storm, Cat Woman, Black Cat and Black Panther.

These were taken with a single speedlite and my Canon 70D. Each image takes me up to three and half hours to edit.

More to come as I edit them.

Forest King and the three Fairies

September 2018 I was asked to join Christopher Thrall and his adorable three daughter to shoot them down town Edmonton. After the shoot outside I offered them some studio photos.

The outfits that they made were amazing. So much work went into creating them. Each of the girls picked what they wanted to be. Sun, Time and Flower Fairies and Christopher was the Forest King. This was a long time working on the outfits to get them exactly what they wanted. So much detail was put into them. They were super adorable.

I look forward to working with them again on another shoot project. Pleas check out Christopher Thrall @sirhc_llrht

The one photo of the three girls together was from the See No, Hear No, Speak No.

Keighla and Jau-Ruey did a fantastic job with the makeup.

Photography Club

I joined a club of 21 photographers who meet once a month for 12 months for shoots, learning opportunities and more.

The shoot that was planned was Film Noir. I had the pleasure of meeting some incredibly talented people at the shoot. I met some new Photographers and models that I hadn’t worked with before. It was nice to see some familiar faces to ease the anxiety I felt at first.

At first I was nervous, because I hadn’t worked with a lot of people around me in a long time. I had to step out of my comfort zone and just dive in and shoot.

A spot was cleared for me with a brick background and an old door propped beside it. Steve set up my one light to create a back ally look. I’m very pleased with what I got.

I brought some authentic outfits from the 1940’s 50’s for some of the models to wear. Only got one outfit and a hat used as I wan’t sure what to expect and do as it was my first time at a group club shoot. The blue night gown and house coat were provided by Visions of Heaphen ( Heather Fryer). It's a 1940 authentic outfit. It was handed down to me by my mom's Collection that I hope to use in some more shoots.

I edited two different looks, one was a desaturated look and the other black and white. I look forward to working on more of these styles of shoots. I hope you enjoy them.

The shoot was hosted by Tammy Deren Owner of The Photographer studio.
