Back in the middle of July this year we were fortunate enough to begin a journey with Shadow’s Gate Haunt that we believe is just the start of a very worthwhile and rewarding journey.

Carter Michael Fenske arrived at VOH Studio in makeup ready to go for our first shoot together for the Haunt. Tim Burton fans will be pleased to see his portrayal of Sweeney Todd. Carter arrived with his Dad, Laurence, the Creative Director and one of the owners of Shadow’s Gate Haunt. Carter’s makeup was already in place by the fabulous Nina McAviney from Elektro FX.

As he got dressed you could see the character coming to life. Once he was in the studio with the strobes flashing and the camera clicking it didn’t take him long to channel the demon barber.

The shoot lasted about 2 hours as Heather went through her planned shots, the outcome was amazing. We also included some Easter Eggs in the images, a bit of foreshadowing of future shoots and characters.

We had discussed submitting the images to Phantasm Magazine at the time as we have a very good relationship with them and thought these would be perfect for their fall edition. Heather spent a couple of weeks pouring through the photos and editing her favorites.

Once they were complete we submitted them to the magazine with fingers crossed. We got an immediate response from Geneva at Phantasm telling us we were in and she was considering them for the feature and the cover.

We were beyond excited. It was just over a week before the release of the magazine that we got the word that we were going to be on the cover. They sent over interview questions for Heather for the feature. We sat with much anticipation waiting for the magazines to be published.
